We’re lucky to have a hard-working team at Live to your Living Room, working to develop an exciting programme of gigs, ensuring that shows run smoothly, and helping venues become as accessible and inclusive as possible.
In the latest of a series of articles introducing our team, we’d like to say hello to Deborah Borg Brincat, who makes sure everything runs smoothly!
Hi Deborah! Tell me in your own words, what your responsibilities are at Live to your Living Room?
I am the personal assistant to our Creative Director Cat McGill – I work closely with her to make sure the projects we are working on are on track and running smoothly.
I usually work behind the scenes, but I occasionally get to be on the other side of things as a gig MC and when I accompany Cat to conferences and events, representing Live to your Living Room. I really like that I have so much insight into different aspects of the organisation.
What do you like most about working with Live to your Living Room?
I love the community that Live to your Living Room is built around. It’s wonderful to have such loyal audiences and supporters, and this gives us the confidence to take thoughtful risks to grow and evolve as an organisation.
How would you like to shape the direction of Live to your Living Room in the future?
Live to your Living Room has such an exciting future ahead of it. I’d love for us to continue to do more advocacy work to promote accessibility in live music, and to support the next generation of artists with talent development.
What are your hobbies and interests outside Live to your Living Room?
I am a musical artist and creative at heart, so I keep myself busy with many different projects. I engage with various climate and social justice communities, and I facilitate a community of artists who are passionate about climate justice.
When I’m not working, I enjoy reading, drawing, and swimming.
If you could invite any three artists (living or otherwise) to play Live to your Living Room, who would you choose?
This is a tricky question as my answer will change depending on when and where you ask me! Right now I’d say The National, Adrienne Lenker, and Bess Atwell.
