There are lots of great people working behind the scenes at Live to your Living Room, making sure our shows run without a hitch, driving our strategy forward, and building a brilliant community of music lovers.
Over the next few months, we’d like to introduce you to them all.
First, let’s say hello to Kate Ingham-Smith, our resident copywriter and digital marketing specialist.

Hi Kate! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hi there! I’ve been working with the Live to your Living Room team since December 2024.
I’ve been a freelance copywriter for five years – I run Keep it Simple Copywriting. I lost my sales and marketing job during the pandemic, made the decision to work for myself, and haven’t looked back!
What drew you to the job at Live to your Living Room?
I was lucky enough to be headhunted!
Cat (McGill, co-founder at Live to your Living Room) was looking for a new copywriter after the previous marketer left. A friend kindly passed on my name, Cat got in touch, and the rest is history!
I did some research into Live to your Living Room before taking the job and was taken at what I came across – such a warm, friendly, and vibrant community of people. It’s a pleasure to be involved.
Tell us a little bit about what you do at Live to your Living Room
I create the content for Live to your Living Room – this includes social media posts, email newsletters, gig listings, and anything else that’s needed! I recently helped out with creating the ONEAudience resource, which is a very exciting concept and something that makes an impact across music and arts venues.
As well as copywriting, I also provide digital marketing support. I worked as a digital marketer before I went freelance, so I help out with the website, SEO, email automation – anything that helps get the Live to your Living Room message out there!
What do you like most about working with Live to your Living Room?
That it empowers people to enjoy live music, no matter their circumstances. I’m lucky enough to live in an area that artists frequently visit, as well as being able to get out to go to gigs, but not everyone has that privilege.
It’s also a pivotal time as Live to your Living Room is working on promoting hybrid gigs, providing advice and support to help more venues put on livestreaming shows.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
As well as going to gigs (both virtual and in-person), I love gardening, cooking, and arts and crafts projects.
I’m also a big fan of video games – I’m super excited that the new Pokémon game has come out!
And finally… If you could invite three artists, living or otherwise, to play Live to your Living Room, who would you choose?
Oooh, good question!
My first choice would be Christy Moore – my dad got into him when he was working in London, and we’d often listen to his greatest hits in the car when I was a kid. A bit of a controversial take, but I think his version of Fairytale of New York is better than the Pogues’!
Second, Ewan MacColl. I was lucky enough to watch the fantastic Peggy Seeger, as well as Neill and Calum MacColl, play Live to your Living Room earlier this year, and it would also be fabulous to listen to all of his wonderful songs live.
Finally, Billy Bragg. I love that he covers a wide range of genres in his music, not just folk but punk and rock too. Plus, like all the other artists I’ve mentioned, he’s not afraid to talk about social commentary in his songs – folk is political at its heart.
