Live to your Living Room – a visual story

At our summer team away day the Live to your Living Room team spent an afternoon working with Devlin Shea from Ideation Coaching, talking about our organisational vision and mission, and what it means to each of us. We did this through sharing images that represented how each of us felt, and finally co-creating one image that encapsulated everything we’d talked about.

Why images? you might ask. As Devlin puts it: “Because pictures are sneaky little storytellers.
They can spark conversations, surface hidden ideas and help us notice themes we might otherwise miss. If I say I’m “happy,” that’s vague. But if I show you confetti mid-air, or a photo of me cocooned on the sofa with a blanket and chocolate—you instantly get a glimpse into two very different kinds of “happy.” That’s the magic of images.”

Live to your Living Room Live to your Living Room - a visual story
A visual story created by the Live to your Living Room team. At the centre of the image is a group of people hugging each other - some of them are different colours and slightly transparent, hinting they are joining from a different place. The people are facing what initially looks like trees, but is actually a spectrogram (soundwave) which was made from the team's voices. Both the sun and the moon are visible peeking out from behind the soundwave. All around the people is a swirl of rainbow colours, and their shadows stretch down towards the bottom of the image, merging with a cobweb, which looks as if it's a series of paths leading to where the people are standing. In the path made by the webs are words describing different reasons people may come to a Live to your Living Room gig, such as enjoying being up close with artists, not wanting to go out at night, or not being able to access physical venues.

If you’re interested in the specifics of the image above and what each part represents you can download the Visual Story document (pdf) by following this link, or alternatively use this link for the document in plain text.
